The Short Version

Live Ruler does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your calibration settings, saved profiles, theme preference, and unit choice are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage on your own device. We cannot see, access, or retrieve this data.

What Data We Store

Live Ruler stores the following data in your browser's localStorage:

• Calibration data — your screen's PPI value, calibration method, and device name (if selected)
• Calibration profiles — named profiles you create (e.g., "My MacBook"), including PPI, method, and timestamp
• Active profile ID — which saved profile is currently active
• Theme preference — "light" or "dark"
• Unit preference — your last-used measurement unit (cm, mm, in, or px)

All of this data remains on your device. Clearing your browser data or localStorage will remove it.

What We Don't Do

• We do not use cookies.
• We do not run third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
• We do not collect your IP address, location, or device information beyond what your browser natively reports (screen resolution, device pixel ratio) for calibration purposes — and this information is used only in your browser, never transmitted.
• We do not require account creation or login.
• We do not display advertisements.
• We do not use fingerprinting techniques.

Hosting

Live Ruler is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process standard HTTP access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) as part of their hosting infrastructure, in accordance with Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. We do not access or analyze these logs for any purpose.

Analytics

At launch, Live Ruler does not include any analytics service. If we add analytics in the future (e.g., privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics like Plausible or Fathom), this policy will be updated before any analytics code is deployed.

Children's Privacy

Live Ruler does not knowingly collect any information from children or anyone else. The tool is a static web page with no data collection mechanism.
